Nurses’ conference: Katsina promises bumper welfare for workers

The Katsina State government, on Saturday in Katsina, promised bumper welfare packages for workers as a reward for hard work and dedication to duty.

The state’s Head of Service, Alhaji Idris Usman Tune, who represented the state governor, Aminu Bello Masari, at the 9th Quadrennial State Delegate Conference of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, commended the existing cordial relationship between the state government and the organised labour, adding that it will promote growth and development in the state

Earlier in his welcome address, the state chairman of NANNM, Comrade Haruna Mamman, said the association has enjoyed better working relationship with the state government, adding that the welfare of nurses in the state has never been undermined by the Governor Aminu Bello Masari administration.

Mamman listed the achievement of his 4-year tenure to include capacity building for nurses, conduct of outreach programmes, purchase of 18-seater buses, renovation of old secretariat and so on.

Chairman of the occasion and Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Abdullahi Danladi, commended organised labour for its transparent leadership.

He advised the nurses to remain proactive, transparent and service conscious when giving attention to patients assigned to them

“We must be transparent and disciplined as a union, always dialoguing with government to ensure good working relationship, show collective responsibility and avoid buck passing,” he said.

He expressed optimism on improved health care delivery services in the state if the right technology is deployed with the right atmosphere and healthy interaction between nurses and patients.

Highlights of the conference were the re-election of the Chairman and the Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Maisa Ida, and five other executive officers to run the affairs of the association.
