Obaseki meets Wike, Emmanuel

EMBATTLED Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki was yesterday on shuttle trips to Akwa Ibom and Rivers states, to seek support for his bid to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and contest on the opposition party’s platform.

Obaseki was disqualified from seeking his party the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket.

Details of his meeting with Governors Udom Emmanuel and Nyesom Wike could not be obtained. Only photos from the meetings were shared.

Obaseki met with Wike at the Rivers Government House.

Obaseki wore a white long-sleeve shirt tucked in black trousers and an orange fez cap with an inscription Obaseki 4+4.

After exchanging pleasantries with Wike, who wore a navy blue t-shirt and light blue jeans, Obaseki was ushered into the Government House where he held discussions with the Rivers henchman.

Wike on his Facebook page merely wrote, “Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike receives his Edo State counterpart, H.E Godwin Obaseki at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt”.

It was learnt that meeting between the two South-South governors did not last up to an hour as it ended few minutes past 6pm.

“Governor Emmanuel told Government House press corps that it a was a private meeting.

In a tweet, Obaseki said: “I appreciate the sustained show of solidarity, support and goodwill from Edo people and Nigerians in the face of injustice by the @OfficialAPCNg screening committee. I will be making my next move known after I complete consultations with my supporters and meet with @MBuhari”
