A member, the Lagos State House of Assembly, Adebisi Yusuff, has appealed to his constituents and community leaders to adhere strictly to the state government’s measures to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Yusuf who represents Alimosho Constituency I, told newsmen yesterday that currently, there was no vaccine to prevent COVID-19.
He said the best way to prevent getting infected with the virus is to avoid being exposed to it, take precaution and guard against it.
Yusuff said the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had recommended everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including avoidance of close contact with sick people.
“Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Stay home when you are sick, cover your cough or sneeze into a tissue, then, throw the tissue in the trash.
“Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
“If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser with at least 60 per cent alcohol.
“Always wash your hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty,” the lawmaker said.
He appealed to constituents to obey the state government’s order on closure of churches, mosques, clubs, football gathering and other social functions.

Yusuff said that social distancing measures were also steps we could take to reduce the social interaction among the people, thus helping to reduce the transmission of the virus.
According to him, the advice is intended for people or organisations attending or arranging mass gatherings.
“In line with the social distancing guidance, it is advisable that large gatherings should not take place.
“The risks of transmitting the disease at mass gatherings are relatively high.
“So, these steps will also allow emergency services that would have been deployed for these events to be prioritised in alleviating pressure on public services,” he said.
Yusuff also praised the Ministry of Health and the NCDC for doing an amazing job in measures to curb the spread of the pandemic in the state.
He, however, advised people to play a positive role in curtailing the spread and avoid reckless actions that would put us, families and the community in danger.
