The Chancellor of the Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Osun State, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin, has called for the upward review of research funding in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Adedoyin, while speaking to reporters in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on the COVID-19, appealed to private organizations, governments and individuals to provide the necessary funding for research and development through the provision of grants and other incentives.

Adedoyin, the Maye of Yorubaland, asked the Federal Government to give more attention to funding tertiary education, especially in the areas of research and development, adding that Nigeria too would have been able to contribute to the worldwide scientific discussion, if the universities had been well funded.
He appealed to the National Universities Commission and the National Board for Technical Education to encourage research in Nigerian ivory towers by creating the enabling environment for academic and scientific researches among lecturers and tutors in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
