The emergence of former Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief Adebisi Omoyeni, as the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) governorship flag bearer has been described as a big plus to the party ahead of the July 14 governorship poll.
Ekiti State Chairman of MPN, Chief Dare Adekolu, said the former Group Managing Director of Wema Bank is a credible and sellable candidate with good track record to attract votes from the electorate.
Adekolu said the release of the final list of candidates for the July 14 election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) containing the name of Omoyeni has finally laid to rest the uncertainty over who is the authentic party’s flag bearer.
The MPN chairman said: “Omoyeni has all it takes to lead the party to victory in the election in view of his appeal, popularity, acceptability, exposure, experience, integrity and vision for the development of the state.”
Adekolu said since the party has, in line with the provision for substitution, picked Omoyeni as its candidate based on the need to present a strong and sellable candidate, the coast is now clear for MPN to step up its campaigns with the candidate taking the lead.
He said: “We are the party to beat. We have seen the difficult times that the last All Progressives Congress (APC) government put the state and its people in.
“We can see the mass looting and waste of scarce resources of the state and the anti-people policies and programmes of the outgoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“This is a clear message to Ekiti electorate and people that the two parties have no business again at the Government House and the need to embrace MPN by choosing to vote for us massively on July 14. We are on a genuine rescue mission.
