Farmers in 10 communities in Ilaje local government areas have cried out over oil spillage that destroyed their source of livelihoods.
Communities affected include Awoye, Muse, Gbakura, Akintola, Jero, Odopado, Oroto, Aiyetoro, Okeunla, Okupi and Ogundeje.
The farmers said the spillage was caused by exploration activities of an oil firm.
One of the victims, Mr. Nejo Samuel Oriade, said the spillage has made getting portable water difficult in the communities.
He said their farmlands have been destroyed.
Ondo Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Funso Esan, cautioned the communities against eating contaminated dead fishes from the river.
Esan said he would be visiting the communities today (Tuesday) for forsy5hand information on the incident
