A member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, representing Akure South Constituency 2, Honourable Sunday Olajide, has lamented the rate of unemployment in the country, saying there is a need for the unemployed to acquire skills and entrepreneurship in order to move out of the unemployment market.
He made the remarks at the inauguration of a water project, and empowerment programme for market women in his constituency.
He said the empowerment programme was his contribution to the development of his constituency and to alleviate the suffering of his people.
‘The loan (revolving)is a sure way of remembering my people and to say thank you for the mandate given to me to represent them. It is in that same effort that we have brought to you a borehole that will serve Isolo/ Odo ikoyi(Ward 10) of Akure South local government.
The Reticulation will serve two streets of odo ikoyi and Isolo axis.
While addressing hundreds of market women that gathered at the event, he charged them to manage the first tranche of the facility very well so that it will encourage the commitment of other funds to the project
He appealed to those who have not benefited to exercise some patience, adding that the next phase would accommodate them. As a popular saying goes, “when you empower a woman, you empower a family.

Responding, the Iyaloja of the Market women, Mrs Adaramoye expressed profound appreciation to the lawmaker, assuring the lawmaker that the loan would be used to boost their trade.
