Ondo State Government has raised the alarm over the influx of neighbouring states buying up food in the state.

It said arrangements should be made to mop up food in the state with a view to creating a food bank amid the C0VID-19 pandemic.

The Chairman of the Palliative Committee, Mr. Akin Olotu, who spoke at the launch and distribution of the palliative materials to indigent residents, said the food bank would enable the residents have access to food.

He said that activities of states across the country to mop up food might lead to food crisis in the state.

Olotu said Ondo State has the best food package for the poor in the entire Southwest.

He said that the palliative would reach a high number of vulnerable people across the 18 local governments.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu warned the committee not to segregate anybody in the distribution of the items.

He said the initiative was part of his administration’s efforts to cushion the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic.
