The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ondo State chapter, has recounted its statement that the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) connived with some state government officials to illegally deduct N119million monthly from the fund that accrued to the 18 local governments from the federation account.

It had named the Accountant-General, Mr Laolu Akindolire and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi, as being part of the deal to deduct N357million in the last three months for a comprehensive health care centre project.

Ondo NULGE President Bola Taiwo said at a news briefing that further investigation exonerated the Commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa and other officials of any wrongdoing in the illegal deductions.

“We (NULGE leadership) have now realised that the illegal deductions in the last three months was done by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Federal Ministry of Finance. We want to state clearly that Ondo State never benefited from the said phony comprehensive health care centres for local governments.”
