Osagie Otabor, Akure

ONE patient whose identity could not ascertained last night has reportedly died in Ondo State following complications from COVID-19.

The deceased is the first COVID-19 victim in the state.

Health Commissioner, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, confirmed this while responding to questions on a radio programme.

Adegbenro said the deceased was a man and that he entered the state from Lagos after testing positive for Coronavirus.

The commissioner explained that the deceased had an underlying challenge of renal failure, which he said worsened his case and led to his death at the state’s Infectious Diseases Hospital.

He said his body would be buried in accordance with laid down rules by the NCDC.

Adegbenro added that other COVID-19 patients were in stable condition.
