One dead in Ondo crash

An Abuja-Lagos bound Sienna commercial bus yesterday lost control between Iboropa-Akoko and Ugbe in Akoko Northeast Local Government Area of Ondo State and rammed into a tree, resulting in the death of one passenger.

Confirming the incident, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ikare Akoko Unit Commander, Yinka Akande, attributed it to over speeding by the driver.

He said his men rushed to the scene for rescue operation, adding that the body was deposited at the mortuary and the injured were taken to hospital.

Contacted, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), State Specialist Hospital, Ikare-Akoko, Dr. Wale Oguntuase, confirmed that a body was brought to the hospital, while others who sustained injuries were receiving treatment.
