ONE passenger on a motorcycle was on Wednesday feared killed by the police.
The Okada rider was also injured
The Nation gathered that the incident occurred at about 11:16am.
A source told our reporter that the passenger was killed and the commercial motorcyclist injured by a policeman from Ilasa Police Station.
The source said that the bike was being chased by the police on the expressway, following the Lagos State Government ban on Okada in six local governments, when the incident occurred.
“The police were chasing the Okada rider and when they got to him, the policeman attempted to hit the motorcyclist with an iron rod. He dodged it and the iron hit the passenger’s head, resulting in his death,” the eyewitness said.
It was learnt that after the incident, policemen inside a patrol van stationed on the expressway, took the deceased, who was reportedly in his late 40’s, with them and left the injured rider on the scene.
“Passersby accosted the police. They almost started a protest. They asked the policemen where they were taking the body to. The good Samaritans, however, rushed the injured Okada rider to a bone ‘doctor’ in the area,” the source said.
