One person has been reported killed and six kidnapped as gunmen invaded Avu Community in Gupa- Abugi ward of Lapai local government area of Niger state.

The attack, which occurred on the early hours of Thursday, came as a shock to residents who were still asleep.

The gunmen were said to have arrived the community shooting and shouting.

The Nation learnt the vigilantes tried to scare them away but the gunmen overpowered them.

It was learnt that the gunmen fired shots, which killed one person and injured many.

At the end of the attack, six people were missing with many believed they have been kidnapped by the gunmen.
