A man simply identified as William has been killed in a resumed communal clash between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities in Udu and Warri South-West council areas of Delta state.

His death has reportedly caused tension among residents in the communities.

Although the cause of the crisis was still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, feelers say it may not be unconnected to the age-long land feud between both entities.

The Nation learnt that the victim, a tailor, was gunned down in his residence by suspected Aladja youths around midday on Tuesday.

Confirming the development, the Ijaw Youth Council chairman of Ogbe-Ijoh Warri kingdom, Comrade Smart Okosun said on phone: “William was shot dead in his house by Aladja youths this afternoon in Ogbe-Ijoh.”

However, President of Aladja community council, Elder Otto Ogbiruveta could not speak on the issue, when reached.

According to him: “For now, I cannot tell you anything because I am out of town. When I come, I will have to investigate before I can say anything.”

Delta Police Command confirmed the development.

“My men are there now. I learnt one man was shot dead in his house.

“That’s what caused the crisis. But we don’t have the particulars of the man who was shot dead. We have to be careful so we don’t escalate the crisis,” Adeleke stated on phone .
