Dreams finally come true for junior international Samuel Opeh after teaming up with Uzbekistan Premier league side Lokomotiv Tashkent.
In the last three seasons, the Christmas day- Opeh has been working his way up to his professional ladder since he joined a Turkish Division Four Side before landing at FC Oqtepa in the Uzbekistan First League at the instance of former Nigeria International Peter Osaze Odemwingie.
At FC Oqtepa, the 22-year-old Opeh shone lie neon light and was named the club’s captain en route to his dream Uzbek’s side.
“First of all, I will like to thank God for always being there for me and for bringing Peter Osaze Odemwingie into my life,” Opeh said. “Since he (Odemwingie) came into my life, everything started working well in my career.”
Opeh did miss the cut to the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile, and was also part of the Flying Eagles that missed the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2017 but he has since bounced back with style.

“Though I was the team’s captain at FC Oqtepa, I’d been praying for bigger and better challenges in this career and God has been faithful for helping me secure a new team,” the 22-year-old Kaduna-born central defender further explained. “Since I came into Uzbekistan, it had been my dream to join Lokomotiv Tashkent because they are in the super league of Uzbekistan.
Opeh spent some two seasons with Oqtepa and reckons he has gained some valuable lessons both on and off the field of play, adding such experience can’t be quantified.
“I remember some of the things Osaze told me when I arrived in Uzbekistan especially the need to focus on my career rather than money,” he said.
“Even as my manager, he was not worried about what he’ll get rather he was only interested in my progress telling me ‘to just get my career started and I’m forever grateful that God has brought the right person into my career.
“ Frankly, Osaze is a God sent into my life and I just want to thank God for my journey so far, it’s been God, and it will always be God till the end,” noted Opeh in his usual philosophical tone.
