Ortom urges local input for budget preparation

Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom on Monday at the Precious Events Centre Makurdi declared open a town hall meeting for planning and preparation of the 2021 budget.

The Governor said the public participatory method of budget preparation was to allow the masses to make input into the document as regards priorities in their various localities and also suggest possible areas that require increased funding.

Ortom stated it was part of his administration’s policy of institutionalising prudence, transparency and accountability in the management of resources especially now that the entire world was faced with an economic downturn.

He called on the participants drawn from the private sector, academia, trade unions, organised labour, market women, and traditional rulers among others, to make useful inputs that would be encapsulated into the preparation of the 2021 budget for the benefit of the masses.
