Better known as the convener of the Best of Nollywood (BON) awards ceremony, Seun Oloketuyi has carved a niche for himself. From being a successful writer, he has grown to be a major stakeholder in the entertainment industry.
To mark his birthday on Monday, September 7, he held an event to launch his book – ‘From Me To You, The Story Of BON Awards’ – at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos. In addition to that, he also premiered a documentary, ‘Pathfinders’, which chronicles the career path of two pioneers of Nigeria’s celebrity reporting, Chief Dele Momodu and Mayor Akinpelu.
Former governor of Ogun State, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, was one of the top shots who honoured the event.
Noting that newspaper business will never die despite the advent of new media, Osoba admitted that it was the first time he would leave his home since March 19, due to COVID-19.
According to Oloketuyi, ‘Pathfinders’ focused on two of Nigeria’s media giants who have contributed immensely to the growth of celebrity reportage in Nigeria.
He stated: “The reality is that many celebrity reporters cannot tell their stories without mentioning Bob Dee or Mayor Akinpelu. They have been exceptional in their dedication to their craft and that inspired the documentary.”
