Delta State Police Command has arrested over 100 criminal suspects, including two suspected fake policemen.
Police Commissioner Mr. Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa said that the suspects were nabbed during a raid on criminals’ hideouts across the state.
He said he ordered the raiding of flashpoints on assumption of duty on January 2.
Inuwa said the command under his leadership “is determined to take the battle to criminals’ hideouts to ensure peace is sustained across the state.”
Speaking about the fake police officers, Inuwa said they were arrested with arms and were undergoing investigation to ascertain their true identities.
He said: “We arrested several persons during the raiding of criminals’ hideouts across Delta State. One was arrested with cartridges.
“We have even nabbed suspected kidnappers and armed robbers disguising as policemen. Two of the suspects were arrested with arms. We are investigating the matter to confirm if they are junior policemen or not. Investigation indicates that they are not policemen.” Appealing to residents to cooperate with the operatives, the police commissioner said the command would purge itself of bad and unprofessional security operatives.
