Not less than 600 beneficiaries out of 3,569 applications have benefitted from a 14-day stipend distribution by Hon. Modupe Jessica Bewaji, Supervisory Councilor for Special Duties, Ikeja Local Government, to cushion the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown.
Hon. MJB, as she is fondly called by supporters, said she was motivated by the desire to solve the stories of hunger and needs in her local government.
According to her, the COVID-19 lockdown has affected lots of families with many barely able to feed.
“I saw this desperation on faces, and partnership with friends of like minds and family members, I was able to pool over N2 million, and about 697 beneficiaries have so far benefitted from about 3,569 applications.
“Many of the beneficiaries included widows, elderly, internally displaced persons and those with health issues in need of medications as well as indigent youths and families,” she stated.
