Oyo records five new COVID-19 cases

Five new persons have reportedly tested positive in Oyo state.

The new cases include a foreigner who resides in Surulere local government area of the state.

While two of the remaining four is from Ibadan North local government, one person each from Ibadan North East and Ibadan South West also made up the figure.

The development brings to 64, the number of positive cases in the state with Ibadan North local government toping the chat with 26 cases.

Governor Seyi Makinde gave the update on Sunday on his Twitter handle.

The tweet with the title “Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force Update (May 09, 2020)” reads “The COVID-19 confirmation tests for five suspected cases came back positive. The cases are from the following Local Government Areas: Ibadan North (2), a foreigner in Surulere, Ibadan North East (1) and Ibadan South West (1).

“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is sixty-four.

“Please call the Emergency Operations Centre on 08095394000 | 08095863000 | 08078288999 | 08078288800, if you find travellers from other states arriving in your community.”
