Palliative: Lagos prince distributes food, cash to 500 people

Pince Lateef Sanni Olarinde, a foremost philanthropist and prince of Ilogbo Eremi in Olorunda LCDA, Badagry has given out food and cash to 500 people in his community as palliative to mitigate the hardship of the lockdown.

The gesture, which took place for days, last week at his Lion House residence in Ilogbo Eremi, had several vulnerable citizens, including the aged, widows, physically challenged and the unemployed smiling home.

Speaking during the exercise, Olarinde, who is CEO, Sanfathab Concept, a financial inclusion and general business services firm in Lagos, said he was moved to give because of the level of poverty the Covid-19 pandemic has plunged the people into.

“The government is trying, but we too – I mean those who are blessed to have more, should also share with those who are vulnerable at this trying time to mitigate the harsh effects of this lockdown.

“I am doing this in line with the injunctions in the Bible and the Qur’an, which say the more you give, the greater reward you get and because I can’t bear to see people go hungry.”

He explained that the exercise took about a week because he needed to prune down the crowd and ensure social distancing and use of face masks and hand sanitisers in accordance with the directive of the government and health authorities.

The prince, on behalf of Medlog Logistics and Shipping Company, Satellite, also reached out to another hundred people with food palliative in Oguntedo community near Satellite Town.
