Senator representing Borno South in the National Assembly Ali Ndume has raised the alarm that several “repentant” Boko Haram members granted amnesty by the Federal Government have since gone back to insurgency and other crimes.

Senator Ndume, who queried the rationale behind Federal Government’s idea of spending money to reform the insurgents, said one of the repentant Boko Haram members recently reintegrated into the society, has killed his own father, stole his valuables and disappeared.

Ndume disclosed this while speaking in a BBC Hausa Service programme monitored in Kaduna on Wednesday.

“This government’s programme is unacceptable to our people. The right thing is to stop it, forthwith.

“Haba! Not that he even apologised to you, he apologised to the government. His thinking was that government has failed, and that is why they are being pampered.”

“They are like Kharajites. Many among those released have since run away. They will never repent The government should know what to do about them. But not re-introducing someone to you, who has killed your parent, or your relations.

“One of those recently reintegrated back into the society, has killed his own father, stole his valuables and disappeared.
