The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for investigation into the money laundering and passport scam, involving Nasir Danu, an associate of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Danu was at the weekend, reportedly arrested at the Heathrow Airport, United Kingdom with £200, 000 and a forged Malta passport leading to his deportation by the British authorities and his ban from entering the United Kingdom.

In a statement on Saturday by the spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party challenged the Presidency to speak out on the matter.

The PDP insisted that the silence by the Presidency on the matter since the report of Danu’s arrest and deportation was self-indicting, particularly given his reported confessions and alleged links to persons closely related to the President.

“This is in addition to apprehensions in the public space that he was caught while allegedly ferrying stolen currencies for persons said to be close to the Presidency”, the PDP said.

The party also called on the Presidency to speak out on the scandal and allegations that Danu has been in the business of connecting the said close relation of the President with many oil contractors for alleged underhand deals through which billions of naira get frittered.

“The PDP notes that this is beside allegations of being a front for scandalous contracts running into billions of naira from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, among other government agencies”, the party added.

The main opposition party cautioned the Presidency against concealing the scandal, as it is already in the public domain with Nigerians demanding for investigation.

The PDP charged the Presidency to immediately order an open investigation into the matter and expose others involved in the scandal.

“Nigerians can now further see how the Buhari Presidency stinks. Our party therefore insists that for a government that always orchestrates claims of integrity and zero tolerance for corruption, it behoves on the Presidency to come clean as well as order an investigation into this huge allegation”.

Danu’s company, Casiva, was said to be one of the companies that were recently awarded 2019/20 contracts for the exchange of crude oil for imported petroleum products by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Danu also served as the Director of Logistics for the Buhari Campaign Organisation and is also the chairman of HLSI Systems & Technology, a firm that got a contract for the sum of $195m for the rental of security boats known as Fast Security Intervention Vessels.
