The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Edo State chapter, has admonished members of the party and other voters not to give in to the alleged intimidation, violence, threats and attacks by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
It said the government and security agencies were capable of nipping in the bud, any security threat ahead of the September 19 governorship election.
PDP condemned last Saturday’s bloody clash involving its supporters and those of the APC, as well as the attack on the convoy of some governors and other leaders of the main opposition party (PDP), at the main gate of the palace of Oba of Benin, Ewuare II.

PDP, through its Publicity Secretary, Chris Nehikhare, at a news conference yesterday at its Edo secretariat in Benin, claimed that the people were happy with the developmental strides of Governor Godwin Obaseki and were ready to re-elect him.
It said: “PDP is interested in peace in Edo State. We condemn the mobilisation of thugs to settle political scores or for campaigns.
“A few days ago, our political opponents went to visit some known thugs. The people were encouraged, instigated and mobilised to attack Edo people.
“In the video that trended on social media, they were encouraged to beat up and threaten the electorate. The essence of APC’s thugs’ visit to their leaders is to strategise on how to intimidate, threaten and make Edo people to be scared to come out and vote. We will continue to reject APC in Edo State.”
