Former Deputy Senate Leader Abdul Ningi (Bauchi Central) has expressed confidence that the People Democratic Party’s (PDP’s) candidate, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, will coast to victory in the forthcoming governorship election on March 9th.
His statement followed the victory of House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara, who was re-elected on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP).
Ningi, the Director General of the PDP Campaign Council in Bauchi State, was reacting to Dogara’s victory when he addressed reporters yesterday in Bauchi.
The senator said it was a slap on Bauchi Governor Abubakar Mohammed, who had been having running battles with Dogara.
He said: “There is nothing that Governor Mohammed Abubakar didn’t do to stop Dogara. This is a victory for democracy and a testimony of the dividends of democracy that the Speaker has brought to his people.
“If you are asking of Federal Government projects, the only place you will see visible projects in Bauchi State is in Dogara’s constituency. Beyond ethnic and religious boundaries, Dogara is an exceptional politician. His victory is a slap on Mohammed Abubakar because there is nothing he didn’t do to stop him.
“Dogara’s victory has opened a clear window that the PDP will take the state because we have seen how Federal and state might to stop Dogara has come to nought. This is a possibility that come March 9, we will take over the state.”
Ningi lauded the performance of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), after Dogara won the election.
