‘Personal relationship with God prevents deception’

Nigerians have been urged to have a personal relationship with God to avoid the deception of the end time.

General Overseer of The Saint’s Gospel Church, Igando, Lagos, Pastor Jacob Shodeinde gave the admonition when the church celebrated its annual Passover to symbolise the freedom of Israelites from Egyptian captivity.

According to the cleric, Moses instituted the Passover in Egypt when the Israelites were in captivity for 430 years.

He said: “Jesus instructed Moses to institute Passover in the land of Egypt when the Israelites were in captivity. But when the lord decided to release them from captivity, he instructed them to celebrate Passover. Even after Moses, Joshua continued the tradition, even until the time of the kings.

“When Jesus was leaving, he told them his blood will now become the blood for Passover, no more goats and ram. So here we don’t use animals, but we believe in the blood of Jesus. God is angry with anyone who offers any other sacrifice.”

The cleric reiterated the need for everyone to have a personal relationship with God so as to avoid deceptions prevalent in the society now. “Move closer to God. Anyone who wants to know God spiritually should go on fasting and prayer which is the only solution to avoid the common spirit of deception in these last days,” he said.

Pastor Shodeinde, who lamented the many crimes plaguing the country, stressed that physical warfare could never be the solution to these crises.

He added: “We are praying for a divine intervention to end insecurity in the country, and we believe that with God, all things are possible. God will give the leaders the wisdom to take good decisions. I don’t believe in physical warfare because the bible says the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty to the pulling down of strongholds. I don’t believe in shootings and retaliations .”
