Plateau political class urges Lalong on presidency

Some important political personalities, as well as chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State are persuading the Chairman Northern Governors’ Forum and Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong to contest the 2023 Presidential election.

The Plateau political class believes that Governor Lalong possesses the leadership skills to preside over the country and run it effectively.

The political bigwigs, that cut across different political parties and ethnoreligious divides met in Jos, the Plateau State capital, and revealed their resolve to support Governor Lalong for the Presidency and to also commence campaign for him was due to his developments strides and peaceful nature.

Leader of the team, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, who spoke after the meeting said from the successes of Governor Lalong in Plateau State and how he has been able to bridge the ethnoreligious gap among the different segments, groups and individuals with divers ideologies, he (Lalong) is a sure candidate anyone can bet on to deliver the country and take it to a greater height.

According to him, due to Lalong’s leadership quality, he was appointed the Chairman of Northern Governors Forum, and has the opportunity to be a bridge-builder and engendering the relative peace, understanding and prosperity of the Northern region and the country at large.

Zazzaga said: “Having deployed rare wisdom and peace-building skills in restoring peace on the hitherto troubled Plateau, Lalong has proven he can bring the prevailing insecurity in the country to an end if given the opportunity.

Zazzaga added that despite the harsh economic reality in the country and the dwindling revenue to the state, Lalong has continued to pay salaries when other states could not meet up.
