Plateau warns of planned protest

By Kolade Adeyemi, Jos

Plateau State yesterday warned residents against a protest today.

A statement by Dan Manjang, commissioner for Information, said there were rumours of a protest today.

The statement reads: “While government acknowledges and respects the right to peaceful protest, it reminds the public that the ban on public procession is still in force.”

Government warns the organisers of the purported protest to drop the idea.

Security agents have been placed on alert to arrest anyone violating the directive.

The government enjoins law abiding residents to go about their duties without any fear of molestation or intimidation.

Parents are advised to check  their wards and continue to support the state in working for restoration of normalcy.
