Suspected bandits in Zamfara State have kidnapped three serving councillors in Gummi Local Government Area of the state.
According to a source, the three councillors were ambushed by group of unknown persons along Gummi Road on their way to Gusau.
The council chairman of the local government, Alhaji Kabiru Aski, who confirmed the incident said one of the three councilors has successfully escaped from captivity, his council is however collaborating with security agents to rescue the remaining councillors from the bandits captivity.
The spokesman of the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu, who also confirmed the incident, said his command had already moved out a rescue team to free the two remaining victims still in captivity.

“The command had already deployed tactical team in collaboration with Army to rescue the remaining two local government councillors from the captivity of the bandits and arrest the culprits for prosecution”. SP Shehu stressed.
Sources revealed that N40m ransom was already demanded by the kidnappers.
It will be recalled that last Monday, similar group of bandits attacked Kujemi Village of Dansadau emirate under Maru Local Government, killing the village head and one other person in the attack.
