Police parade 28 suspects in Imo

No fewer than 28 persons were on Thursday paraded by the Imo State police command on suspicion of committing crimes ranging from murder to kidnapping, armed robbery and child trafficking.

Parading the suspects at the Owerri headquarters of the command, Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Fafowora said one of the most notorious murderers in the state was among the suspects.

He said the dreaded suspect, Charles Onjioru, was arrested by the operatives of the special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) over heinous crimes he committed within Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area and elsewhere in the state.

The CP said that the suspect was wanted for the kidnap and murder of one Solomon Uche Eluaga and the kidnap of a female staff of second generation bank, Osas.

He disclosed further that the suspect “is the leader of Acelander and the head of executionist and a former ally of the late outlawed Don Waney of Umolu, Rivers State.

The police boss said the suspect was arrested during gun fire exchange with the police who professionally over powered the hoodlums and arrested him.

“This suspect has committed heinous crimes by killing and beheading his victims, ” the CP disclosed.

Others paraded include five child traffickers. The syndicate comprises Nkechi Iroegbu (35), of Akolia Imenyi, Bende LGA Abia State, Chidi Ndukwu (38) of Ozari Emehi Isiukato LGA, Abia State, Edu Monday Akpan (38) of Elelenwa Street Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Chinyeaka Gregory (60) of Boundary Road, Umungasi, Aba Abia State both conspired to kidnap a five year old boy, Godday Obi of Umuejechi Nekede Owerri West LGA who was sold for N850,000.
