‘Police still investigating fracas between Bello’s security details, military’

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, yesterday said investigation was ongoing on the alleged attack on Governor Yahaya Bello’s motorcade.

Garba had on Sunday told a news agency that unruliness was responsible for a clash between Bello’s security details and military men at a checkpoint.

Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, had claimed of an alleged assassination attempt a few kilometres from Abuja, which the governor had refuted.

Fanwo had said: “It took the swift intervention of the security personnel attached to the governor to foil the satanic plans of the unknown soldiers. The attacks were at three different points, the last barricade being around Kwali, Federal Capital Territory, at about 4:20 p.m.”

The Commissioner of Police, told our correspondent last night: “We are still investigating that matter. I will not say more than that.”
