Prosecuting Inspector Olayiwola Rasaki told the court that the defendants, who are academic and non-academic workers, committed the offences on November 22, 2018 at about 7am at the university’s main campus at Oke-Baale, Osogbo.
He said the defendants conspired and unlawfully gathered to disrupt the peace of the university.
Rasaki said the accused blocked the entrance to the university, preventing students and visitors from gaining access.
“The accused used cars to block the entrance of the university, which led to breach of public peace and later scared away students, dignitaries and other invited guests coming into the campus,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 518(5), 70, 249(3) and 71 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
The defence counsel, Mr. Amole Adekunle, had prayed the court to allow his clients continue with the bail conditions, which was earlier granted on February 1, 2018.
Magistrate Mr. Taofeeq Badmus ordered that the defendants should continue to enjoy the bail earlier granted them.
The case was adjourned till January 20, 2020 for hearing.
