Porter held for ‘stealing’ smartphones, tracker

A 25-year-old porter, Nura Buzu, was on Wednesday arraigned at an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos for allegedly stealing smartphones and a Redmine tracker.

Buzu, a resident of Peter Street, Mile 12, Lagos, was charged with conspiracy and stealing, but pleaded not guilty.

He was arraigned on a two-count charge before Chief Magistrate Mrs. M. I. Dan-Oni.

Prosecuting Inspector Victor Eruada told the court that the alleged offences were committed on January 4, at Kosofe bus stop, Ketu, Lagos.

He alleged that the defendant and others at large attacked Peter Uchenna at Kosofe bus stop and stole the items from him.

The prosecutor alleged that the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested the defendant on the scene of the crime.

He pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate Dan-Oni admitted the defendant to N50,000 bail with one surety in the like sum.

She adjourned the case till February 12.
