The Federal Government has sited the newly approved Federal University of Technology at Babura, the home town of Jigawa State Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar.
This was contained in a statement yesterday in Dutse, the state capital, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Habibu Nuhu Kila.
The statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the sitting of the newly established the Federal University of Technology in a letter sent to Jigawa State Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, which was signed by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu.”
The statement also said the minister “requested for a provision of at least two alternate sites within Babura with a minimum land area of 100 hectares and adequately linked to essential infrastructure, such as access roads, national power grid and proximity to the source of water”.
It added: “In the meantime, a Technical Team, comprising officials from the Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission (NUC) and other stakeholders will be visiting the state for an on-the-spot assessment and consultation with the state’s officials to facilitate speedy implementation of the new Federal University of Technology in Babura.”
