Last Thursday, it was a dozen years, yes, twelve solid years since Yinka Craig, the bubbly broadcaster with a huge bag of wisecracks left this side of the divide and his son, Rev. Dr. David Olamide Craig, a physician and cleric, could not hide his emotions as he remembered the late Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) superstar.
Writing on his twitter handle, @RevDrCraig, he went emotional.
“Hi papa, It’s been 12 years…I’ll be 40 soon, I am holding the fort Chidinma is 2 going on 12 She has your laugh. Aisha talks about you all the time, Ollie joined you in April. He fought well. Kenny beat the Cancer. Temi is winning! We miss you, we love you. #YinkaCraig,” Olamide wrote.
Needless to say his post ignited memories of the “acts of Yinka Craig” as commentators poured eulogies on the departed professional.
Born in 1948, Craig died on September 23 2008 after over 18 months battle with lymphatic cancer. He rose to national prominence at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) as a sports commentator and analyst in 1980. He later switched over to the NTA and became famous for his presentation of Newsline, Presidential Media Chat, and AM Express.
