Residents of Games Village, Eric Moore, Lagos on Monday protested over the health implications of cutting off the housing estate from the sewage treatment plant.
The residents who carried placards denouncing the activities of the former owners of the estate, embarked on the protest over the alleged sale of the property which houses the sewage treatment plant.
Addressing reporters, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Moshood Salvador, who owns property in the estate said the community was protesting the construction work taking place at the sewage treatment plant.
Salvador said the residents took the new owners of the property to court, when they were cut off residents from sewage treatment plant.

He explained that when the estate was severed from the treatment plant, residents sought alternative means of disposing their solid waste and it came with grave health implications.
“The whole community is saying no to this development because they cannot resort to digging soak away where there is no land for such. Government has sold all houses in the Games Village, therefore they cannot sell our treatment plant.”
“You cannot sell the houses to us, and sell the toilets to other persons. We are worried that people are falling sick due to the unhygienic situation of the estate.
Reacting, Chairman, Princely Estate Limited Dokun Ayeni said the company was in lawful possession of the land, adding they had the mandate via several agreements with the Federal Government to build a new sewage plant.
He said the sewage plant would service the estate which comprised the Red brick Estate, Eric Moore Towers and the Pilot houses in the neighborhood.
He said: “A certain individual has been telling lies about the land and our activities. We are actually giving them a sewage plant. The old one had become moribund and non-functional.
“Our mandate was actually to build a modern one and if they cross-check with the Ministry of Environment and ask the relevant questions, they would have been briefed.
“We are actually building sewage plant which we have approval from the government. There are very clear ways to know what we are doing there. In Lagos State, nobody can build without approval. Every step that we have taken is lawful and I want to emphasize again that it is not possible to build anywhere in Lagos State without approval,” he said.
