A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) serving in Osun State was on Wednesday night shot dead by robbers.
Adebayo Mukaila, popularly called Alfa, operated a kiosk near the NYSC secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital, where he ran a Point of Sale (PoS) business and sold GSM top-up cards.
He was said to be walking home about 11pm when the assailants accosted him, dispossessed him of cash, his PoS machine and shot him in the head as he tried to escape.
A young girl believed to be his daughter was with him at the time of the incident, an eyewitness said.
It was the girl who shouted for help but none came. Everyone was afraid to come out, The Nation learnt.

The two robbers operating on a motorcycle fled after killing Mukaila, it was gathered.
An eyewitness, Alani Azeez, said, “Mukaila was attacked after closing his shop around 11pm on Tuesday by hoodlums.
“They first dispossessed him of his bag containing cash, PoS machine, recharge cards and bunch of keys before they shot him in the head.
“The robbers thereafter fled on their bike. Mukaila’s daughter, who was with him when the incident happened, was crying for help but nobody could come to rescue him. The sound of the gunshot was very loud.”
Spokesperson of the NYSC, Catherine Otemuyiwa, confirmed the incident, adding that officials of the Corps had visited the family of the deceased.
Otemuyiwa also said the incident has been reported to the police.
