The Consulate-General of India High Commission in Lagos, Chandramaouli Kumar Kern, has praised the efforts of the Indian community in Nigeria.
He commended their commitment to uplifting local communities through collaborative projects and service in various parts of Nigeria.
Kumar Kern stated that these efforts will significantly strengthen the ties between Nigerians and Indians.
He expressed his gratitude for the involvement of the Indian community in Nigeria during the Investiture Ceremony of Rotarian Suresh Nayak as President of the Rotary Club of Eko Atlantic and Service Project launch, which took place at Lagoon Hotel, Lagos.
“I am very happy to be here because they are harbingers of hope, harbingers of magic, harbingers of happiness all around. The presence of Rotary in Lagos is one of the strong instruments for Nigerian and Indian cooperation.”
He noted that the Rotary Club widely recognized for its charitable work in both nations, has facilitated numerous initiatives, including blood donations, school renovations, and food distribution drives.
Indian nationals in Lagos have played a crucial role in these projects, solidifying their ties to the Nigerian community.
He said: “It is heartening to see how the Indian community contributes to Rotary’s mission of service. From blood donations to educational support, their commitment is invaluable.

“The Rotary Club has also been instrumental in strengthening cultural and social relations between India and Nigeria. Rotary training programmes have seen participants from Nigeria travelling to India to exchange knowledge and gain skills. This bond generates a people-to-people relationship between our nations, which is vital for us.
“The Director General of Rotary 9112, Rotarian Femi Adenekan applauded the new President of the club for his past contributions and encouraged him and his team to continue the Rotary Club’s mission to bring about positive change in Nigeria.”

Speaking at the event, the new president, Suresh Nayak said that his new position in the club offers him an opportunity to do community service, to give back to the society, which has been supporting us all your while, in terms of education, welfare, environment, among others.
He called for more support from all members and Nigerians toward activities and investments that will affect the people especially the rural poor in our society.
