Royal families in Iba in Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State yesterday donated 29 acres of land to the kingdom for the construction of a market, abbatoir and secondary school in the community.

The Oniba of Iba, Sulaiman Adeshina, who spoke at a ceremony to mark the handover of the land documents, said a market, abattoir and secondary school will not only put a smile on Iba residents’ faces; it will also boost the community’s economy development.

The monarch said the kingdom would further support the state government towards developing Ibaland and its people by building an ICT centre and a magistrate court in the months ahead.

While calling on the state government not to relent in its development plans for Ibaland, he urged Iba residents to remain loyal to the crown and government.

On his part, the National President of Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Alhaji Musa Muhammadu, who commissioned the laying of the foundation of the magistrates court, applauded the monarch for “emulating the good ways of your forefathers who had a cordial relationship with the government towards developing their communities and Nigeria at large.”

Other dignitaries present at the event included a former commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State, ToyinShuarau and all the heads of town and chiefs under Iba Kingdom.
