RTEAN elects new executive in Lagos

DELEGATES at the 11th delegates Conference of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) on Tuesday, unanimously affirmed the return of the Mohammed Musa-led state executive council for another term of office.

Musa, who has been in the eye of the storm since July, over attempt to return unopposed, will be completing his first term in office on October 31, this year.

Musa, who emerged the National President of the union in September, was unanimously elected by 700 delegates of the association at its Igando, state Headquarters.

The conference, had in attendance national officers of the union led by the National Secretary General Henry Ejiofor, and a former national leader High Chief Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, who came in as an observer of the rancour-free election.

Musa in his acceptance speech said he has forgiven all those who allegedly dragged the union in the mud in the past.

He assured the Lagos State government that RTEAN under his leadership would continue to support all transportation initiatives aimed at making commuting more pleasurable in the state.

He extended the same courtesy to the Police and other security operatives of maximum cooperation of his executive council and RTEAN members.

Musa said RTEAN is committed to the traffic laws of Lagos State and would remain law abiding members and responsible members of the society.

Musa said he remained committed to the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the NURTW regarding the operations of parks adding that the unity forged with all sister associations and unions would continue to be fostered under his leadership.

He assured all members that his administration would continue to spread the goodies of good leadership, even as he urged all zonal and unit leaders of the association of the support of his leadership.

He charged all members of the exco not to rest on their oars or see their new offices as a means of exploiting g their members adding that they have all been called to serve and will continue to be diligent in serving all members.

He lauded members for the peace and unity that has characterised his first term, adding that under him, the association bade bye to violence and forceful takeover of parks and garages, adding that he would continue to pursue such policies.

Earlier, Ejiofor shortly dissolving the former exco eulogised the Musa led exco for his forthrightness and openness which has made it possible for the association to witness such phenomena growth which has continued to make Lagos chapter a leader long other state chapters of the association.

Elected along with Musa are; Deputy Chairman Administration, Alhaji Aransiola Qudus, Deputy Chairman Operations Hon. Albert Omotayo, Secretary, Abdulraman Amusan.
