Sacked LG boss: Court adjourns hearing

A Plateau State High Court 10, presided over by Justice Nafisatu Mohammed on Friday adjourned till 1st September, 2020 the hearing of a suit involving the sacked Chairman of Qia’an-Pan Local Government Council, Hon Isaac Kwalu.

The plaintiff’s counsel, Solomon Umoh said that his client was impeached by 16 members of the Local Government Parliament on the 5th August, 2020, even when there was an existing motion exparte issued on the 4th August, 2020 and the House of Assembly suspended him on the 30th June, 2020.

The plaintiff’s counsel, Barr Yetunde Nze (Mrs) and N.M. Nyelong taking brief of Barr Solomon Umoh (SAN), told the court that their motion on notice/motion of exparte was served on the 1st , 2nd and 3rd defendants but efforts to effect service on the Speaker Rt Hon Ayuba Abok prove abortive as the Plateau State House of Assembly was sealed-off for fumigation exercise.

She explained that the bailiff went down to Qua’an-Pan Local Government Council for service only to discover that security personnel had already besiege the council secretariat and no staff was on ground .

Yetunde Nze added that their client, Hon Isaac Kwalu who was at the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs headquarters in Jos, awaiting the panel, only to get the news that his deputy had already been sworn-in by the Executive Governor Simon Bako Lalong .

The counsel to the defendants ,Barr J.I.Mwantu did not opposed to the plaintiff counsel application for adjournment.
