School driver remanded for ‘defiling’ three-year-old

AN Ebute Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Thursday remanded a school driver, Michael Mowete, 35, in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl.

Mowete, resident at Okota, Lagos, is charged with indecent and unlawful assault and defilement before Chief Magistratr O.A. Komolafe.

Prosecutor Inspector Kehinde Omisakin told the court that the defendant committed the offence on September 27 at about 3.30pm between the minor’s school and her mother’s shop.

He alleged that the defendant, who is a school driver in the school of the toddler, defiled her before dropping her at her mother’s shop.

Mowete pleaded not guilty.

Chief Magistrate  Komolafe ordered that he be remanded in a correctional service in Ikoyi, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

He ordered that the case file be duplicated and a copy sent to the DPP.

The case continues on Nov  20.
