ACTOR Kalu Ikeagwu believes that the regional system, not secession, can make Nigeria better.
In a recent chat with The Nation at the premiere of Elina, in Lagos, Ikeagwu said the clamour for secession might not yield a positive result.
According to the ’30 Days’ star who was born in England but relocated to his motherland at the age of nine, the infighting will just start if we secede.
“I don’t think secession is the best way to solve the problem of this country. If we secede now, who’s going to rule? The infighting will just start again and where is it going to stop?” he queried.

He suggested that it’s better to address human nature rather than agitating for disunity.
“What has to be addressed is human nature. I will only advise we go back to the regional system where every region controls its resources and contributes to the center.
“Some states might not have any mineral resources, they might go into tourism, some people might have geniuses in software development and start with that.
“I see two things, each State will generate their income and revenue – strive to build their economy – and then, what is coming to the Federal Government, you give them their allocations. This will engender competition and in no time there will be national prosperity. I will also suggest State police where each region is responsible for its security.”
