The United Nigeria Movement for Equity, Fairness and Justice has joined the call by All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and senators to consider Senator Orji Uzor Kalu for Senate President.
The group said it is working with the support from the APC leadership for the emergence of Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu as the President of the 10th National Assembly.
A statement by its Convener Mazi Ezenwa Onyirimba and Secretary Aliu AbdulMuluku stated:
“As the father of the nation that President-elect Bola Tinubu has always been, it didn’t come to us as a surprise when he stood on principle of national cohesion, unity and integration to support the clamour for the seat of the Senate President to be zoned to the South.
“It is in the vein of this challenge by the President-elect to the Southern region to produce the Senate President of the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that we wish to rally all the APC party structures, leaders and organs across Nigeria, and in the Southern region in particular, to support the emergence of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as Senate President.
“Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, as a staunch APC leader from the Southeast stands tall in the political equation of Southern Nigeria, with a vast network of strategic political and economic links across the region and northern Nigeria that has won him confidence across board as a de-tribalized Nigerian. In this sense, he is known to have the ears of all and sundry; a critical advantage to help understand the issues agitating various sections of our country with ready suggestions of contact and action plans to arrest the challenges which will bring about unity and prosperity in our diversity.

“As a loyal party man who has given his all to aid the progressive entrenchment of the APC in the South east in combination with other leaders, which has led to the APC boasting of controlling two Eastern states and about six senators, a support for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and by extension the Southeast will be a critical moral booster for the committed efforts of the Southeast APC leaders over the years.
“This will serve as a further launch pad to deepen and entrench the APC across Eastern Nigeria. This will also serve to quell all agitations of inclusiveness on one hand, while aiding the President-elect’s administration with the needed peace and collective buy-in needed to quickly settle into the affairs of State.
“Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu has the capacity, the de-tribalized credentials and experience to lead the Senate in synergy with the Executive Arm to deliver the promise of Renewed Hope in all ramifications. He is a team player who is ready to be at the forefront of the deep political and economic reforms needed to unleash the potential of Nigeria for the collective security and prosperity of Nigerians and Nigeria. On his mandate we seek you all as the Senate President of the 10th Senate.”
