Member-elect for Essien Udim constituency, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, has felicitated workers in the state as they mark the Workers Day today. He said that workers are pivotal to the smooth implementation of government programmes, policies, reforms and effective service delivery to the citizenry.
In a statement , Prince Akpabio noted that the welfare and wellbeing of workers must remain a topmost priority of all employers for effective service delivery and enhanced productivity. He noted that as the world commemorates the struggles and gains made by workers and the labour movement, Essien Udim workers in particular and workers in the state in general deserve commendation because without them, the success, growth and progress recorded by the government would not have been possible.

Prince Akpabio: “Every worker deserves respect and the right to live a dignified life and this day is to salute them for all their contribution in the different sectors of our economy.” He reiterated his resolve to use his office to partner with relevant stakeholders to ensure that workers in the state are treated with respect and their rights and privileges acknowledged. “As we mark the 2023 International Workers Day dedicated to workers across the world, I thank all workers for their contribution to the state’s workforce and economy. I celebrate and honour every worker’s effort and hard work towards their job. Your contributions and the services you provide to the different sectors of our economy are why we are where we are today as a people, and without you, neither the state government nor the private sector can achieve much.”
Assuring the workers that brighter days are head, Akpabio commended them for being an integral part of the success story of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Completion Agenda, and admonished that their role in the realisation of the Arise Agenda of the Umo Eno incoming administration come May 29 2023 cannot also be over-emphasised.
