The lawmaker representing Anambra Central Constituency in the National Assembly, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has decried the dilapidated state of the access road leading to the Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze, Anambra State.
Senator Ekwunife, who is also the chairman, Senate Committee on Science and Technology, called for immediate reconstruction of the road to save workers and students from prolonged distress Wednesday, last week when she unveiled 100 tablets donated by Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) to boost e-learning in the institution.
The Senator said the e-learning project which she attracted to the college was part of efforts by the federal government to equip institutions with facilities necessary for seamless migration to e-learning, which has become necessary due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Praising the Provost, Dr. Tessy Okoli, for proving her capacity to effectively run the College, Mrs. Ekwunife called for more participation of women in leadership positions.
Responding, Dr. Okoli thanked the Senator for providing quality representation of the state in the National Assembly. She said the tablets would improve digital learning and also complement the ongoing plans to start an Information and Communication Technology Academy in the College.
On the poor state of the road, Dr. Okoli said the College had done palliative work to make it useable but it had often been washed away by seasonal flood.
She said repeated appeals to the government for the reconstruction of the road and internal network of roads in the College have not yielded desired result. and Ekwunife Campaign team displaying the tablets.
