One thousand artisans and traders have been empowered by the senator representing Lagos West District, Solomon Adeola.
They were sponsored to learn phone repair, soap making, fishing, hairdressing and make-up.
After graduation, Senator Adeola gave them starter packs and cash grants to start their own businesses.
At an elaborate event on Sunday, the lawmaker said two of such similar events had taken place this year.
Adeola, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, urged public officials to make the empowerment of those who elected them a priority.
“About a thousand people are involved in this training and as you can see, they are into different groups. As I have said, this is a programme that at least takes place a minimum of three times in a year,” he said.
