THE senator representing Lagos Central District, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu and members of Methodist Church of Nigeria, led by the Prelate Emeritus, Dr Sunday Ola Makinde, on Sunday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late first Military Governor of the state, Brig.-Gen. Mobolaji Olufunso Johnson (retd.).
Senator Tinubu said the late Johnson lived a great life.
According to her, the first military governor of the state was a leader par excellence.
“I celebrate a great life and a leader par excellence,” she wrote in the condolence register. Dr Makinde described the late Johnson as “immortal”.
According to him, a practical Christian has gone home.
The cleric prayed to God to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings.
“God, You have given him (Johnson) to us and taken him to yourself at the appointed time. We thank you for his life, that of his wife, children, relatives, friends and Lagos State, where he pioneered as the first governor without blemish. If he has done anything wrong that we may not know, God, please forgive him,” Dr Makinde prayed.
The Prelate of Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Samuel Uche, described the late Johnson as a living saint who was highly blessed.

“He was a governor of note. This bereavement is not only to the Johnson’s family alone, but also to the Methodist family. The Lord whom you served will not allow your soul to suffer,” he said.
Others on the entourage were Archbishop of Lagos, Dr Isaac Olawuyi; Secretary of the Conference of Methodist Church of Nigeria, Rt. Revd Michael Akinwale; Chaplain to the Prelate, Revd. Jeremiah Shittu and Chaplain to the Archbishop, Revd. Festus Fadele.
