The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Monday advised Lagosians who have fixed dates for their weddings, birthdays and other engagements to postpone such ceremonies.
Its General Manager, Mrs Dolapo Fasawe said this as the agency intensifies monitoring and enforcement of “no gathering” policy.
She said everyone must join hands with the government to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
Fasawe said, the agency received over 70 calls from Lagosians in the last 24 hours, who reported their neighbours who organised ceremonies with nearly 200 participants.

Mrs Fasawe appealed to the people to voluntarily comply with the new directives.
“The directive was meant to ensure the safety of everyone. You can postpone your birthdays, weddings or whatever ceremony. Only the living celebrates these ceremonies. We all must comply with this. We shouldn’t because of any gain endanger the lives of others by organising parties at this time,” she said.
Mrs Fasawe said the number of the events’ centres sealed off has increased to six.
Fun-seekers, she said, were dislodged, while the venues were sealed off for flouting the order aimed at preventing the spread of Covid-19.
Fasawe warned club owners to stop harbouring people in unsecured and unventilated areas, to hide from the authority and also prevent sanctions, saying everyone must adapt to the changing lifestyles necessitated by the outbreak of the virus.
She said: “We received cases of some schools encouraging their students to come to school in mufti to enable them to complete their exams. This is unacceptable and no hidden place for violators of government directives.
