Society unveils trends in governance

Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria (SCGN) has stated its resolve to cultivate corporate governance enthusiasts and regulators to engage on trends in corporate governance.

It said this at SCGN 2022 conference in Lagos, with the theme: Digital, Diversity, and Inclusion: Evolving Trends in Governance and Board Culture.

SCGN’s Chief Executive Officer, Chioma Mordi, said the society provides a forum for debate on global trends in corporate governance.

Mordi said discussions on trends, such as board diversity, inclusion, sustainability, digitalisation, and cyber security were signs boards need to modernise and adopt new practices to ensure efficacy and organisational resilience.

Society’s President, Muhammad Ahmad, noted: “We should continue to re-emphasise on the need for diversity and fight pipeline problems,”

Board Chiarman of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Femi Lijadu, said encouraging investments was crucial to boosting economy.
